  • This week we have been deepening our understanding of flashback with video clips.  This work is due Thursday Dec 21.
  • We'll be watching "Shrek" after the break and reviewing story elements and examining how sound and music work together to create an effect for different scenes.

  • This week we read "The Gift of a Magi" and exmined character traits, symbolism, situational irony and theme.
  • We also talked about the effectiveness and limitations of stories, plays and video.  Students recorded their observations of the similarities and differences between O' Henry's "The Gift of a Magi" and the Disney production.
  • We'll be watching "Shrek" after the break and reviewing story elements and examining how sound and music work together to create an effect for different scenes.

9B&D

  • This week we discussed how to write theme statements and practiced anlyzing theme in a practice text.
  • After understanding how to write theme statements, we wrote a paragraph that analyzes theme in "The Lost Thing".  Writing is due Thursday Dec 21.
  • We'll be watching a documentary after the break and examining the speaker's argument and how it is developed.
